Regardless of the brand, what will allow us to keep an appliance for many years will be the care we take with it. However, some small problems will appear due to the coffee maker’s many uses and normal wear and tear. This article will find the most common problems your Ufesa machine may face and their solution.

Problems when the Ufesa espresso machine does not prepare coffee

Suppose you do not properly maintain your Ufesa espresso machine and do not clean it regularly. In that case, it will be very susceptible to clogging due to the accumulation of coffee residue and other dirt.

This will be reflected in the preparations since as the coffee preparation group’s filter and the portafilter’s filter fill up with residues, the coffee flow will decrease until it stops dispensing completely. Below, we will show you what to do to unclog the filters of your Ufesa espresso machine:

How to clean the filter of the coffee group of the Ufesa coffee machine:

1. Turn off and unplug the coffee maker.
2. Remove the filter holder.
3. Use a screwdriver to remove the filter where the filter holder is attached.
4. Remove the spring in the centre and remove the filter, which probably has small holes clogged.
5. Wash the filter very well, making sure to remove all the dirt. Then use a pin to pass it through each of the holes, as this is where the residue accumulates and obstructs the passage of the coffee.
6. Put the spring and the filter cover back in place, don’t forget to screw it back on.

How to clean the filter in the filter holder arm of the Ufesa coffee machine:

1. Now you will have to disassemble the filter holder to clean it, remove the filter inside and remove the three screws so that all the parts come out.
2. With running water and soap, wash each part you removed from the filter holder, including the rubber seal; if you need to unblock the small holes, you can help yourself again with the pin.
3. Reassemble the filter holder, put each piece back in place, replacing the three screws you removed.
4. Put the filter holder back in, and the brewer is ready to continue dispensing coffee.

No steam or hot water comes out of the Ufesa espresso machine

The accumulation of dirt and residues inside some parts of the coffee maker due to inadequate maintenance will end up causing damage to the machine. If your coffee maker no longer produces steam and is not heating the water, you should pay attention to the boiler, as this component is responsible for carrying out these functions.

Note: Espresso machines have a boiler instead of a Thermoblock, which is easy to disassemble.

If you feel able to disassemble the coffee machine without causing extra damage, here are the steps to follow to check the boiler:

1. Turn off and unplug the brewer.
2. Dismantle the coffee maker.
3. Remove the entire water circuit, taking care to disconnect all the cables. In these Ufesa espresso machines, the whole assembly is removed: boiler, pump, group, and pipes.
4. Remove the boiler and open it to remove the filter and the rubber seal inside. Wash these two parts thoroughly to remove any obstruction. If the gasket is in bad condition, replace it with a new one.
5. Check and clean every corner of the boiler very well; there must not be any residue obstructing the water flow.
6. Put the filter and the rubber gasket back in place in the boiler.
7. Reassemble the boiler in the hydraulic circuit.
8. Clean the inside of the brewer with a damp cloth and allow it to dry thoroughly before replacing the hydraulic circuit.
9. Reconnect the hydraulic circuit inside the brewer.
10. Reassemble the brewer.

Water leaks from the filter holder of the Ufesa espresso machine

Normally, some parts start to wear out with time and the many uses of your coffee maker. When you try to make your preparations, you notice that the coffee overflows from the filter holder, and you will be faced with a leak that can be easily solved.

• First, make sure that the filter holder is correctly positioned in its holder.
• Then check that the rubber seal of the holder is clean and in good condition. Otherwise, you will have to replace it with a new one.
• Wear on the filter holder support may prevent normal use if the problem persists.

The wear causes the filter holder does not put enough pressure against the gasket of the support, and it is badly placed, causing the water to come out under pressure between these two parts. In this case, you should replace the worn part or carry out the small trick described below to prolong the life of this part and of your coffee machine a little more:

1. To raise the filter holder to exert more pressure on the rubber seal when placed on the support, you will need to make a small cardboard seal as described below.
2. Remove the filter holder from the brewer and take out the filter inside.
3. On a piece of cardboard about 0.4 mm thick, place the filter upside down and draw the circumference of the filter on it to remove the seal.
4. Then you will have to measure the thickness that the gasket should have on the filter to finish drawing it on the cardboard.
5. Once you have the drawing ready with the exact size of the gasket, cut it out carefully and take it to the filter to check that it fits perfectly.
6. If the gasket fits perfectly on the filter, repeat the operation on a plastic material not affected by heat. You can also look for a similar gasket on the internet and adapt it to your needs.
7. Place the gasket in the filter holder and lift it into the holder on the brewer.
8. You will notice that with the slight lift generated by the gasket you put in, the portafilter will fit snugly into the holder, and there will be no more leaks.

The Ufesa espresso machine takes a long time to make a coffee

The speed of the preparations depends on several factors, including the type of coffee you put in the filter, the degree of grinding and the degree of pressing.

If you put too much coffee, if the coffee you use is too fine, if you press it too hard or if you use roasted coffee, it will be more difficult for the water to pass through the filter, which will slow down the process.

It can also happen that there is a lot of limescale in the coffee maker and this is obstructing and slowing down the normal flow of water for the preparations, so you should carry out the descaling process regularly, as follows:

1. Fill the water tank with three parts water and one part vinegar.
2. Operate the coffee machine twice, including the steam pipe.
3. Subsequently, run the machine twice more with water only to remove the vinegar residues.
4. This will be enough to remove the limescale residues.
